The position is responsible for developing, implementing and executing strategic marketing plans for an entire organization to attract potential customers and retain existing ones.

Major Responsibility:

  • To formulate and implement marketing strategies for the group through;

ü  Customer relationship management Database Development

ü  Competitive Analysis

ü  Crisis Marketing Management

ü  Leveraging Marketplace Opportunities

  • Claim or close the market share gap from major competition
  • Develop and maintain relationships and communication with key partners
  • To manage Corporate Brand
  • to analyze, identify market trends and administer change


11. Specific Duties:


·         Ensure that the Group marketing strategy is developed, reviewed, agreed upon and implemented to meet the goals set for growth and profitability.

·         Effective Customer retention strategies of key corporates and clients.

·         Private sector penetration and reduce risk of over dependency on SSB.

·         Call centre utilisation to over 50% of revenue generated.

·         Effective utilisation of the marketing agents force.

·         Monitor the external environment, regulatory conditions, read the market, anticipate change and alert the group DLA-MANAGING DIRECTOR to these and asses the likely impact of change to the business

·         Produce monthly, quarterly and annual reports for board meetings

·         Ensure that opportunities for business development are identified and recommendations made to the group DLA-MANAGING DIRECTOR as appropriate taking on board the strategic thrusts of the various SBUs.

·         Review and take remedial action where necessary of all marketing activities for sustainable profitability performance

·         Create conditions and processes to support sustainable change through balancing people, financial resources, technology and operations

·         Safeguard group assets and increase /preserve shareholder value always

·         Establish an efficient and timely performance measurements and reporting system

·         Asses the principal risk of the group and ensure that risk is effectively addressed in all aspects 

·         Ensure consistency of systems across the group

·         Promote and conduct the affairs of the department with the highest standards of integrity, probity and corporate governance

·         Ensure succession and contingency plans and resources are in place for all key operational roles

·         Ensure that key positions in the department are staffed with the calibre of people who are motivated to meet ongoing challenges

·         Constantly monitoring products and ensuring that they still relevant to customer needs  

·         Develop and maintain healthy relationships with key stakeholders locally, regionally and internationally  

·         Ensure that all marketing activities or initiatives carried out have got measurable /or a business case to justify expenditure  

·         Act as the central intelligence of the business by providing all the market intelligence required for decision making



12.2         Education

ü  Degree in business (like MBA), marketing or any related field.



12.3       Experience

ü  At least 5+ years’ experience of leading Proven track record of competently delivering large-scale and/or multiple projects at a time.

ü  Experience in planning and executing complex programs such as budget management.

ü  Familiarity with tracking tools used to assess a campaign's performance.

ü  experience in online marketing and advertising.

The ideal candidate in this job must possess the following skills and competencies:


ü  Requires a dynamic professional with the ability to drive business performance consistent with the critical and strategic role of a Group General Manager Marketing

ü  Should be able to lead the marketing and sales team of the Group business consistent with strategy and commercial objectives agreed at board level as well as the overall stewardship of the group marketing activities including fiscal management, revenue generation, profitability, staff development and motivation.

ü  Must be business minded, strategic thinker whose integrity is beyond reproach

ü  Demonstrable ability to develop long term strategic relationship with key stakeholders

ü  Must have a proven track record of driving business growth in a substantial organisation

ü  Full appreciation of digital marketing

ü  Detail-oriented and organized with the need to take care of even the smallest detail and remain organized to ensure perfection.

ü  High energy levels to meet the demands of the job

ü  Ability to handle pressure in the face of stressful environments, being able to handle the pressure constructively.

ü  Willingness to travel
