Ensures that safety risks that may arise from tasks, work instructions, procedures, machinery, tools, equipment, and infrastructure are kept under control for all maintenance and work processes being carried out;

Produces and adheres to mobile equipment service and maintenance plans and maintains service and maintenance records for the equipment;

Ensures all mobile equipment is technically compliant with the road traffic act and ensures all anomalies are rectified immediately to avoid unnecessary service disruptions and fines emanating from mechanical defects;

Ensures vehicle inspections are conducted to ensure equipment is kept in a clean, mechanically sound and visually appealing state;

Ensures quality of workmanship on all repairs and maintenance work for both in-house and out-sourced work;

Monitor the use of materials, care of company equipment, tools and plant, to minimise down time and damage;

Ensure the management of a harmonious work environment, with team building, training and development of employees as required;

Ensure housekeeping is ongoing daily and the maintaining of a clean and safe workplace;

Ensure safety meetings and toolbox talks are conducted and documented on a regular basis, records are kept for reference;

Ensures all technicians accurately complete and submit job cards and signs-off complete job cards and performs quality checks before the equipment is released to users.

Produces statistical, operational reviews and reports on time to ensure clarity on current operations on the equipment;

Ensures the workshop has the right tools and equipment to effectively perform its functions and ensures these are properly maintained;

Ensures that spares are purchased at the right quantity, price and that adequate stocks are maintained;

Ensures that all accidents and incidents are thoroughly investigated, evaluated, analysed and reports are produced and filed within seven days of occurrence.



A minimum of a Trade qualified (Class one Journeyman, Diesel Mechanics/ Engineering)

Bachelor of Degree in Logistics 

A Masters in Business Administration (MBA) will be an added advantage

A Minimum of 8 years’ experience in workshop supervision plus 10 years’ trade experience;



Prefered Skills



Knowledge of Freightliner (Cummins, Detroit & ISX), Volvo, Deutz and Caterpillar engines;

Knowledge of material handling equipment (Cranes, Grabbers, Forklifts);

Knowledge of earthmoving equipment; 

Knowledge of basic workshop machining, welding processes and a sound knowledge of gearboxes and drivelines
